Grading

This is a checklist of all the graded aspects of each blog entry. Every time you write an entry, you will receive a smaller sheet of paper on which this same checklist is printed. Look at the comments in the sections to know how to improve the quality of your future entries. 

Content

Follows directions for entry (if provided)

o    Gives SHORT summary of reading

o    Provides reader with interesting details

o    Asks actual or rhetorical questions (& answers when appropriate)


Style
o    Engages reader through voice & tone

o    Has lead that draws in the reader

o    Has conclusion that either makes reader want to know more or sums up entry appropriately



Mechanics
o    Free of major grammatical issues, especially any reviewed in class

o    No use of “text” language or structure

o    Entry is worthy of 9th grade language & structure



Comment (when assigned)
o    Shows thought

o    Gives constructive criticism

o    Makes a connection to another book read

o    Asks a legitimate question and seeks to answer it or predict in terms of partner’s book
