All five girls-Ana, Caitlin, Julie, Mackenzie, and Parker- in The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard don't have anything in common besides one thing: they all hate Nolan Hotchkiss. He seems to rule everyone in the grade that goes to their school in Beacon Heights. For that a lot of people in this school dis-like him, but not as much as these five girls. All of these girls have secrets that only Nolan knows about. They all came up with a plan to kill him at one of his many huge parties. The next morning everyone got the news that he was murdered at that party last night, but the odd thing is none of these girls did it and no one knows who actually did. All of these girls are scared for their lives because he was murdered exactly the way they all once planned. Someone had to over hear them, took the idea, and now are going to blame those five girls. This is a problem because not only will it trouble them , but ruin their perfect reputations. All of these five girls hide their family lives, their troubles, and their emotions so they can all maintain the look of being "perfect". All those years of bottling up their feelings are for nothing now. On top of having the guilt now the girls are constantly being questioned by the police and other peers just because they were seen at the party. They all try to keep calm and hold it all in while they are under pressure, but who knows how long that will last.
