In this novel the place they live in is made up of five factions: Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor, Erudite and Amity. There is this girl named Tris and she is part of the Abnegation faction. The book goes through her life as an abnegation then as a Dauntless. Tris finds out that she is a Divergent, which means that she has more than one faction in her blood, and that is a very dangerous thing because they cannot be controlled and all the leaders fear that. Then the Erudite made this serum that can control a persons brain with the person not having any control over their actions at all, but it can't control the Divergent because they are immune to serums. Then they injected it into all the Dauntless. The Dauntless started to kill all the Abnegation and whole place went into an uproar.
My favorite thing about this book is that it teaches you to never give up and don't let anyone or anything stand in the way of achieving your goal, and to persevere when things get tough in life. I feel like that is such an important message. The part in this novel that I will remember most of all is when Tris went from being the lowest ranking on the board to the highest ranking. Tris worked so hard to get up there, she was very determined to get in the lead and to remain a Dauntless. This picture is showing Tris training herself to be able to fight and win. She was very determined to get on the top of the score board and show everybody that she can be on the top even though she is from Abnegation.
This book sounds like a good book and makes me want to read this. This makes me want to go read the Divergent series because you gave some information but not too much and I really want to know what happens next. You could have put a little bit more details to make it sound more interesting but you still drew me in with this. I like your reason on why you think that this is the best book of 2014. I also think that this sends a powerful message.
ReplyDeleteThis was my favorite book of 2014 too! I feel the same about the book as you do. Tris is such a great character because she was kind of the underdog and came through as being one of the best! You did a great job explaining her accomplishments and personality. Also, you did a nice job explaining the main plot, but don't give too much away!! If you liked this book, you must read the rest of the thrilling trilogy, Insurgent and Allegiant. It just keeps on getting better! The ending is so unpredictable. Awesome entry and enjoy the rest of the books!!
ReplyDeleteThis book seems like a pretty good read and is also the genre I choose most of my books from. I think you did a pretty good job explaining the story and introducing the plot to us but as Kiley said don't give much away!
ReplyDeleteI had seen the movie before but just like most of the movies made of famous books the story is a little different, and I also think you did a great job telling us the goal of the story. I'm probably reading this book after finishing this one because it seems pretty awesome.
