Better Than Running at Night by Hillary Frank

I picked Better Than Running at night by Hillary Frank. This book has a lot of twists that you would never see coming so when it came to picking the best book that i've read in 2014 it wasn't hard to say that this book is the one. Also this book is all about independence and making your own choices in life ,which I feel is very important in modern day.
Imagine if your parents named you after a hallucination they had when tripping on acid,it would probably scar you for life just knowing that your name, the one you have to live with your whole life, is Ladybug. Thats why Ladybug(or Ellie for short) is leaving her whole life behind,to live in a new apartment,to go to a new college, to break out of her shell,to make new friends, and most importantly to pursue her dream:art! It might seem like Ellie is living the dream now ,but having to deal with loneliness, anger, and stress is not always the best. All Ellie dreams of is to grow up, but she figures out soon its not all what its cracked up to be…
This book is really interesting ,and that's what makes it entertaining, when reading this book you'll NEVER get bored and thats what I mostly like about it. This book has a lot of detail, and little things that are all important to her life. You can even say that about your own life too, all the things that happen to you in a day have an effect on you.
One thing i'll never forget about this book is its colorful piece of art on the cover page, and all of the other sketches drawn. Also the ending is an unforgettable one, Ellies life is definitely not a fairytale, but she comes to realize thats all she ever really wanted. Finding the right people to trust is a tricky one that Ellie figures out, but in time those people will come her way.
I chose a picture of a tree because it is showing how in this book Ellie is trying to “branch” out. These particular tree branches are all twisting in all different directions. Also Ellie is an art student that loves to draw and paint, so this work of art reminds of the story.
