In the novel, the United States is constructed of 12 districts. Each district has one job to fulfill such as mining coal, fishing, or cutting down trees for wood. The higher the district the poorer the community. You might ask, who are these supplies that they are gathering for? And the answer is the Capital. The unjust, selfish, and superficial capital. Each year, everyone 14 and older has their name put into a ballet. At a ceremony called the reaping one male and female from each district is chosen to play a part in the Hunger Games. The games consist of forcing the 24 young adults to slaughter each other in an arena until one remains the winner. The story is of the rebel of district 11, katnis, and what she goes through in her journey inside the Hunger Games.
I especially love this book because I think that it describes our corrupt government in current America. Not as extreme obviously, and I can't really get into that exactly but I like how I can make connections to the corrupt government throughout reading the book. The scene where katnis has to see a young 14 year old girl, her friend and allie, die right in front of her. The scene of her being covered in flowers and sung to will always stay in my heart. This is also when katnis begins her long journey to rebellion.

Sarah, I would love to know more about the book. I think you could also throw more details about the series in there too. But other then that, I think this is a beautiful blog entry. I would definitely mention this to all my friends
ReplyDeleteSarah, I have heard many great things about the hunger games series but I am never decided to read the books. The way you describe the books makes me want to go read the series. Great job on the blog entry!
