I chose Blood of Olympus because I've read all nine books that lead up to it, and to be honest I will probably reread the entire series once again after I finish it. I don't know why I first read the first book but I love the series. It is awesome to reread because there are so many charters with so many quests that besides major plot points you sometimes get surprised again.
The setting of the book finale is basically now and you actually follow one of the characters, Percy who is the main character in Percy Jackson and The Olympians, from the time he is twelve to now when he is eighteen.
In the book the characters are what ware called demi-gods, which means they have lone human parent and one God parent, since they are just teenagers they think about other stuff going on in the real world.
This connection really is interesting because it causes you to reflect on what the characters are actually doing. They're ages range from fourteen to eighteen and they are about to god take on giants meant to destroy gods and stop the earth itself from waking up and destroying humanity. All the while they are still teenagers (one of them being my age and for me it is an inner battle deciding what homework to start first) and they are going through things that bring you back and realize their youth. One moment in Particular is one character, Piper, has a father who is a hollywood movie star, and while out doing one of their missions she sees the billboards of her dads new movie and is embarrassed by it. In a world where she is constantly under the threat of being killed while simultaneously trying to save humanity she still gets embarrassed by her father being famous. Moments like these allow a better connection to the characters through personal and relatable moments like these and it makes the book even more difficult to put down.
