Leaving Paradise

                 In the beginning of the book, Leaving Paradise, by Simone Elkeles, Caleb Becker is in jail because he ran over his next door neighbor, Maggie Armstrong while being drunk after one of his friends party. Caleb ends up getting out of jail, The Illinois Department of Corrections- Juvenile complex(DOC) soon after the books starts. Maggie has been having to go to physical therapy a lot because she shattered her leg in the accident. Caleb not only destroyed Maggie's leg but he also destroyed Maggie's friendship with Caleb's twin sister, Leah and Maggie's and Caleb's parents relationship with each other. No one recommended this book to me. I chose this book out of the library just cause I thought it sounded good.Yes I liked the cover.

                  

               The struggle or destroyed relationship between Caleb and Maggie, both of their parent, and Maggie and Caleb's twin sister Leah reminds me of the book a Separate Peace. It reminds me of this book because in both a Separate Peace and in Leaving Paradise their friendships are both destroyed because of a shattered leg. In a Separate Peace Finny and Gene kind of get their friendship destroyed because Gene pushes Finny out of the tree which causes Finny to shatter his leg.
