The Land of Stories

I am reading The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. This book is about twins named Alex and Conner. Alex is a smart girl who does well in school. She enjoys reading stories, especially fairy tails. She wishes that she had more friends. Conner has a lot of friends but doesn’t do very well in school. The twins’ grandma gives them a magical storybook for their birthday. One day, they fall into the storybook and the only way out is to find eight items for a wishing spell. When they get the items, they can get one wish so they want to wish to go home. Unfortunately, the spell can only be used one time and the Evil Queen is also trying to collect the items before the twins do. The items are very hard to find and dangerous to collect. They have already seven of the items and they need one more. 

My friend got me this book for my birthday last year and she said it was really good. She reads a lot of books and she told me this was one of her favorites so I really wanted to read it. I thought it sounded interesting because it starts out like a realistic fiction story but turns into fantasy later in the book. She got me two other books as well, I read all of them, and this one was my favorite.

The idea of this book is a little bit like the movie The Wizard of Oz. Just like Dorothy, the twins get stuck in a different land and want to find a way home. Both Dorothy and the twins have to go on a long journey to find the way to go home. They also both meet many new people along the way, some are good and some are bad.
