connections between books
The book I am reading independantly along with A Seperate Peace is Dear Nobody by Mary Rose. This book is kind of like a diary that was kept by the author throughout her life about her daily struggles. She has been through being an outcast ever since her and her mom moved or I should say moved again. She gets into trouble a lot and has a drinking problem and has been in rehab a few times so far for her drug problems. I chose this book simply because I was at the bookstore with a friend in search of a summer reading book for her and a leisure rading book for me that would keep my mind occupied. I loved the cover of it (eventhough i always take off the cover). It perfectly illustrated the book. This book was very interesting and I loved how the book was writing to "nobody" because everyone writes "dear diary". I found the author to be brutally honest and I love that. Everyone now a days tends to tip-toe around what they truly want to say, so that they are not judged. The author told a lot about the truth of what it feels like to be an outcast and how hard it is to try. and fit in without coming off as if you are trying. I thought it related to A Seperate Peace because the author is narrating th story and this makes her sound crazy as well. In the story we can always hear Gene's thoughts and we always say that he sounds crazy or he's an oddball but really he's just going about his normal day just like Mary. Mary seems like shes trying so hard to fit in but I dont think she has to try very hard. I think that these books are both very well written and well said.
